What…

Citizens of the United States of America, what are these ethics to which you speak of? What a reformer, you know, taking out all the corruption and abuses of power in the government. Seriously, the “it’s always been done that way” defense when used to justify one’s own unethical actions doesn’t make someone look like an individual willing to reform much or “maverick.” It makes someone that uses rhetoric to appeal to the idea that such an individual is “just like me!(tm)” Guess what, I don’t want someone “just like me!(tm)” running my country. I would prefer someone better educated, better read, and hopefully a better leader than me making decisions which affect me. The “just like me!(tm)” appeal is, honestly, something I do not understand.

It would be good to have politicians that were better than your average Joe, intellectually, ethically, what have you. But, given our record thus far, we would be lucky to have politicians who just weren’t worse than the rest of us (save in the realm of finance…). Palin doesn’t even hit that low mark. She tries to pretend otherwise, but, well…her claims of rooting out corruption and being fiscally conservative when Troopergate is still lurking in the background, and when she supports building the “Bridge to Nowhere” (and then f#$%ing lies to our faces about it). A more typical politician could not be found.

Neither do I. I don’t call a plumber to fix my car.

It’s kind of like certain school boards that want to write science standards. Sheesh.

Are you implying that you are a plumber?

All politicians lie, but there are still extremes of lying even for a politician. I think the McCain/Palin ticket has pushed the envelope on lying.
